BHS girls golf first at Rogers Invite
The Bemidji High girls and boys golf teams closed out their regular season Thursday, the girls winning their first title at the Rogers Invitational while the boys took third in a triangular at Greystone.
The girls won at Fox Hollow with a 349, their second lowest score of the year. Buffalo was second at 369 with St. Cloud Tech, Apollo and Monticello rounding out the top five.
Kelsey Bretschneider of Bemidji took medalist honors with an 84. Megan Phelps was second at 84 while Shelby Sauer tied for third at 87. Emily Frosaker's 95 completed the scoring.
The kickers were Aimee Sandquist at 103 and Erin Buckanaga 112.
"It was a real good day," said Coach Jeff Nelson. "Hopefully it gives us some confidence for the section meet next Monday and Tuesday at Long Prairie."
The boys played one of their best rounds at Greystone but trailed Fergus Falls which won at 299 and Moorhead which had 307. Bemidji ended at 327,
Kevin Larson paced Bemidji at 77. Jake Hoffman hit 79 to earn a section tournament berth. Kaleb Hanson followed at 84 with Joe Welle and Trey Dale hitting 87, only one of which counted toward the team totals.
Rylee Curb and Max Hazelton had 90's.
The boys section also opens Monday at Greystone with the top six teams and top10 individuals advancing to the second day's 18.
