BHS fourth after day one
PARK RAPIDS -- Three Bemidji golfers shot in the 70s to help the Lumberjacks claim fourth place after day one of the East West Classic hosted by Detroit Lakes.
The Lumberjacks shot 311 at the Headwater Golf Club, 10 behind third-place Moorhead at 301. Detroit Lakes was on top after the first day with 293 and West Fargo second at 300.
"That's our best score of the year," BHS head coach Seth Knudson said. "What I look at is if we can improve every week, and we've done that since the start of the year."
Trey Dale led the Lumberjacks with 75, while Elliot Leinan shot 77 and Zach Rickers 78.
"We had three guys in the 70s," Knudson said. "Our goal is to have four guys in the 70s by the section tournament."
The action moves to Longbow Golf Club in Walker for day two.
"We're going to try and play a little better tomorrow," Knudson said. "We feel good about it."
