BHS boys tennis: Weaver, Holter advance to sections

Sam Weaver and Ben Holter advanced to the Section 8AA tennis meet Thursday, taking fourth place at the North sub-section individual tournament at Brainerd.

Failing to get out of the sub-section were Aaron Johnson and Steve Bucher in singles and the doubles team of Ryan Rude and Adam Holter.

The section individual tournament will be played Tuesday and Wednesday at Apollo.

Weaver and Ben Holter won their opener 4-6. 64. 6-3 over Jared Anderson and Mike Ruen of Brainerd but fell in the semifinals to champions Reggie Ronning and Connor Illies of Alexandria 4-6, 6-3. 6-3.

They then dropped their third place match to third seeded David Sanderson and Andrew McAllister of Fergus Falls 7-6 (7-1), 7-5.

Rude and Adam Holter won their opener over Keaton Hauser and Andrew Reinholz of Moorhead 6-0, 6-3 but fell in the quarterfinals 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) to Sanderson and McAllister to be sidelined.

In singes, Johnson won his opener 7-5, 6-3 over Matt Peterson of Sartell but fell to third seeded Morgan Salo of Brainerd 6-2, 6-0.

Bucher lost his opener to Jake Anderson of Fergus 6-0, 6-2.

Bemidji had fallen in Tuesday's team tournament to Alexandria 6-1 in the second round.
