"Overall they did very well," Lumberjacks head golf coach Seth Knudson said of his team, which shot 313 to place second. Host Staples won the meet with a 303.

Trey Dale continued his solid overall play for the Lumberjacks, taking second place overall with a 36-39-75.

The Jacks also had two other medalists to compliment Dale. Kodi Craft shot 34-45-79 and Zach Rickers went 38-41-79.

Staples' Nick Forsberg was the overall individual leader with 36-36-72. The Cardinals had a total of four medalists to the Lumberjacks' three.

"I'm pretty happy with them today," Knudson said. "Of course, they have room to go lower. They all would have told you that. They could have shaved some strokes off, but they're pretty happy with that score."

Rounding out Bemidji's scores were Elliot Leinen with 42-41-83, Sam Starkey with 41-40-81 and Sam Brustle with 37-43-80. Leinen also won the long drive competition in the meet.

The Jacks are back in action Friday at the Headwaters Invitational in Park Rapids. They'll also compete next Saturday in a pre-sectional invitational tournament in Alexandria.
