BEMIDJI - The Bemidji High School fall sports officially begin their 2012 campaigns Monday when all eight squads hold their initial practices.
BHS offers fall varsity sports programs for boys and girls soccer, girls tennis, football, boys and girls cross country, volleyball and swimming.
A year ago three of the teams advanced to the state tournament. The girls soccer and volleyball teams made their initial appearances at the state level while the football squad advanced all the way to the Class 4A title game where it eventually lost 17-10 to Rocori.
The boys soccer and girls tennis teams reached the section semifinals before their seasons ended while the cross country and swimming teams all advanced athletes to their state competitions.
The competitive seasons open Aug. 20 when the tennis team heads to the Pine City Invitational. The soccer teams both open at home against Little Falls on Aug. 24 while the football team visits Moorhead on Aug. 31, the cross country teams also travel to Moorhead on Aug. 27, the volleyball team visits Perham on Aug. 28 and the swimmers head to the Willmar Invitational on Aug. 25.
Office opens at 6:30 a.m.
BEMIDJI - The Bemidji High School activities office will open at 6:30 a.m. Monday to assist the high school and middle school athletes who need to turn in eligibility paperwork and pay the participation fees.
The practice sessions for all of the fall sports programs begin Monday but student-athletes who have not completed and turned in their paperwork are ineligible to participate.
