Child, father die after kayak overturns on Hart Lake in Hubbard County

Betty Ann Cloud, whose name is Zhooniawabek Equay, which means Money Woman, 69, of Ponemah, died on Monday, May 4, 2009, at the MeritCare Hospital in Fargo, N.D.

Traditional funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the Ponemah Community Center in Ponemah. A wake will begin at 10 a.m. today at the Ponemah Community Center and continue until the time of the service. Burial will be in the Family Burial Grounds in Ponemah, under the direction of the Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemidji.

The pallbearers will be Randy Stillday, Wesley Cloud, Tyrell Atkinson, Randy Atkinson, Elliott Cloud Sr., Jerry Stillday, Fabian Cloud and Brian Stillday.

Honorary pallbearers will be her family and friends

She was born Jan. 10, 1940, to Warren and Alvina (Burns) Stillday in Red Lake. She worked for the Ponemah School as a cook for 27 years retiring as the head cook. She also cooked for Ponemah Labor Day Powwow and the Veteran's Day Powwow. She enjoyed shopping, watching CSI and wrestling. She enjoyed spending time with her family; especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a traditional powwow dancer and enjoyed going to powwows.

She is survived by her children, Sandra Cloud, Karen Cloud, Floyd (Patricia) Cloud and Orianna (Mark) Kingbird; three grandchildren, whom she raised, Chris Cloud, Angela Cloud and Thomas LeBlanc; sisters, Rose Cloud, Margaret Jarski, Patricia Stillday and Althea Johnson; brother, Larry (Violet) Stillday; 14 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wallace Cloud Sr.; son, Wallace Cloud Jr., a grandson; and two brothers, Warren and Alvin Stillday.
