Bethel Lutheran youth package oatmeal for Bemidji food shelf
Bethel Lutheran church senior high youth and confirmation classes re-packaged 400 pounds of bulk oatmeal for the Bemidji Community Food Shelf Wednesday.
"With the eight, 50-pound bags, we packaged approximately 262 bags of oatmeal. At 12 meals per bag, we repackaged 3,144 meals through this project," youth leader Randy Mckain explained.
"Bethel has had a connection with the food shelf over the years through adult volunteers, and the confirmation and senior high youth have been doing several 'servant events' for the food shelf over the years as well," the Rev. Mark Kindem of Bethel said. "The youth enjoy doing these events and it allows them to be connected to the food shelf in a unique way."
