The trade organization says Bergman was elected president at the association's annual meeting Friday.

Bergman is the 133rd president of the group, which represents nearly 350 newspapers across Minnesota. He also served as the group's 125th president in 2005.

Bergman was 15 when he started his career at the Norman County Index in Ada. In 1991, he and his wife, Julie, formed Page 1 Publications, a group of community newspapers in northwestern Minnesota.

Julie Bergman was MNA's 117th president in 1997. The East Grand Forks couple is the only husband-and-wife pair to serve as presidents of the association.
