The Bemidji Pioneer, Paul Bunyan Broadcasting, Ken K. Thompson and the United Way recognize Someone Special Volunteers who have made significant contributions to the community.

Giziibii Resource Conservation & Development Association has nominated Carol Berg and Darol Melby as special volunteers.

Berg represents the Hubbard County Soil and Water Conservation District on the Giziibii Resource Conservation and Development Association Council and serves as the council secretary. She serves on various council committees and provided many hours of assistance in the planning and organizations of the 2009 Hubbard County Grazing Tour.

He has been a part of the association for many years, starting as the coordinator and now volunteering as a council member. Melby has taken an active role on the Biomass Gasification Project and provides valuable input on past and present projects.

The Giziibii Resource Conservation and Development Association is a locally led nonprofit organization helping to improve the economic, social and environmental quality of life through the conservation, development and planned utilization of natural resources.

RC&D serves residents from Beltrami, Clearwater, Hubbard, Lake of the Woods and Mahnomen Counties and Red Lake, White Earth and Leech Lake reservations.
