Little Falls won both the boys and the girls team titles, nipping Bemidji in the boys event. In the girls team chase Bemidji was fourth. In addition to the team title all of the Little Falls skiers advanced to the state meet.

The other state qualifiers were the top eight skiers not on the Little Falls team.

Tony Sagedahl placed ninth individually in the boys competition but was seventh among the non-Little Falls finishers. Holter was eighth in the latter category and both will return to the state meet.

For the second consecutive season Kyle Sagedahl just missed a state berth as he was 11th overall and ninth among the skiers not on the winning team.

"Our guys did not leave anything on the course," said Lumberjacks coach Mark Walters. "They put their hearts into their races. I'm proud of everyone and I'm happy to be sending two boys to the state meet."

Little Falls won with 370 while the Jacks finished with 359. Brainerd was third at 351 and Mora claimed fourth in the seven-team field with 344.

Trek North was seventh with 259.

Individually, Jake Richards of Detroit Lakes was the winner in 31:29 over the pursuit course which included six kilometers of classical skiing and six kilometers of skate skiing.

Tony Sagedahl completed the race in 34:34 while Holter was timed in 34:43, Kyle Sagedahl in 35:00, Sam Dwyer in 35:35, John Buckanaga in 37:22, Eli Rassler in 37:24 and Trent Buckanaga in 39:03.

In the girls division Little Falls won with 388 and Brainerd was second in 348. Mora finished third with 328, Bemidji fourth with 324 and Trek North fifth with 313.

Summer Ellison, who is a home school student from the Park Rapids area, took the individual crown in 36:17. Drewes was 12th overall and seventh in the state chase with a time of 41:49.

Also racing for BHS Tuesday were Laura Yourd (43:22), Kim Truedson (44:37), Summer Johnson (45:07), Alicia Papke-Larson (45:21), California Thorson (47:18) and Mari Eggebo (48:23).

"Bailey had a tough morning run on the classical course and was 12th going into the afternoon skate," Walters said. "But skating is one of her strengths and she was able to catch a few skiers and hold off the others. Bailey dug down deep when she had to and ran a great race."
