Bemidji's Jess Yost scores 1,000th point

ROGERS – Jess Yost scored her 1,000th point Friday with a basket late in the game but the accomplishment was muddied as the Bemidji girls basketball team was beaten 66-31 at Rogers.

The Lumberjacks could do little right in the first half and trailed 40-6 at the break. In the second stanza they played better but the outcome was never in question.

“Rogers is a very good team. They hit the open shot despite us putting hands in their faces,” said BHS coach Rick Kehoe. “Once again we struggled to run our offense. With 12 minutes left in the first half we trailed 8-4 and then all of a sudden it was 26-4.

“And the game was over.”

Yost added some positives to the game by scoring her 1,000th point.

“That’s a great accomplishment,” Kehoe said. “Scoring 1,000 points is a great milestone. And before the year is out she’ll probably get her 1,000th career rebound.

“That tells you how much time and work Jess has put into her game.”
