MILACA – Jenna Truedson continued her stellar fall by winning the Class 4A championship at Saturday’s giant Milaca Mega Cross Country Meet.
Truedson fashioned a course-record time of 14:06 and destroyed her nearest pursuer, Anna French of Wayzata, by 10 seconds.
The meet featured four divisions of varsity competition, ranging from Class A to Class 4A, and Truedson’s time was the fastest of the day.
“The lead pack went out very hard and Jenna stuck with them,” said BHS coach Ryan Aylesworth. “Jenna eventually broke from the pack and was running by herself at the end.”
Also running for Bemidji were Dani Gronhovd, Emma Brokl, Nicole Erdman, California Thorson, Leanne Oakes and Amber Smith. Meet officials struggled with their computer system, however, and the individual times were not available.
In the Class 4A boys meet Bemidji finished third among 25 teams. Stillwater, which is ranked No. 1 in Minnesota and in the top-10 nationally, dominated the field and claimed the event crown with 34 points. Centennial was a distant second with 127 while the Jacks were third with 132.
Individually Sam Carlson paced Bemidji, finishing 12th overall at 16:12.
Also competing for BHS were Elias Hendrickson (16:48), Seth Neubech (16:55), Adam Lewis (16:57), Billy Freyholtz (17:00), Kyle Sagedahl (17:03) and Cody Freyholtz (17:32).
“It was a very good day for us,” Aylesworth said. “Jenna dominated and overall the boys had their best performance of the year.”
Bemidji returns to action Saturday when it heads to the Roy Griak meet hosted by the University of Minnesota.
