Bemidji's finest came through in storm
Forty of our family and friends enjoyed a picnic and a beautiful evening at Diamond Point Pavilion July 2 until suddenly the weather started looking threatening. When a Bemidji police officer came by to let us know of the impending storm, we quickly began to pack up and take boats out of the lake. People began to leave and the thunder sounded closer.
This same wonderful officer came back about 10 minutes later and told us to leave NOW and even carried my 3-year-old granddaughter as we ran to the car.
She truly exemplifies Bemidji's finest. We are so grateful for her diligence and helpfulness. We are also very thankful for the foresight of all the public officials who acted quickly to avert a disaster with timely warnings and assistance.
