JORDAN, Minn. -- Bemidji's Trey Dale fired a 2-under-par 70 Saturday to record the lowest round of the Hermantown Invitational high school boys golf tournament at The Ridges at Sand Creek.
Dale rebounded from an 85 in Friday's first round to climb into third place overall. His 155 was five shots off the pace set by medalist Josh Polingo of Litchfield.
The Lumberjacks finished last in the seven-team field, but gained some valuable experience against strong competition.
"It's still early, and hopefully what we can take away from it is what we need to work on to get better," said BHS coach Seth Knudson. "It was a learning experience."
Dale, a senior, had five birdies and three bogeys in Saturday's round/
Hermantown won the meet with 628 strokes, three ahead of runnerup Litchfield.
The Jacks have two tournaments on the schedule this week. They will play at the Detroit Lakes Invitational Tuesday at Wildflower Golf Course and at the Pequot Lakes Invitational Friday and Saturday at The Pines and The Preserve north of Brainerd.
Team totals: Hermantown 628, Litchfield 631, Byron 634, Detroit Lakes 641, Grand Rapids 651, Prior Lake 655, Bemidji 676.
