Bemidji youth hockey report for Feb. 1
The Pepsi-VFW Bantam A won two of its three weekend games, bowing at Roseau 7-2 Friday before winning 7-3 at Thief River Saturday and returning home for a 4-1 decision over Detroit Lakes Sunday.
It lifted Bob Fitzgerald's Bantams to 21-8-2 overall and 7-4 in district play.
This weekend, Bemidji hosts Brainerd at Nymore Friday afternoon, takes on Hibbing at Neilson-Reise Saturday afternoon and Fergus Falls at the same site Sunday morning.
Roseau took a 3-2 first period lead Friday and blanked Bemidji the rest of the way.
Tanner Boes and Jake Leitner had the Bemidji goals. Brett Isensee assisted on both.
Gabe Heifort made 46 saves. Roseau had only 25.
Saturday, Bemidji scored five goals in the second period to take charge of the TRF win.
Boes had four goals and Leitner Brett Isensee and Erik Fitzgerald one.
Isensee had four assists, Leitner three , Seth Neubeck two and Sam Bruestle and Fitzgerald one.
Garrett Atterberry made 22 stops. Thief River had 31.
Sunday, the Bantams used a three-goal final period to snap a 1-1 tie and beat DL.
Isensee had two goals and Zach Posner and Tyler Geerdes one.
Assists went to Leitner, Brett Hartje, Nick Swanson, Isensee, Mike Forseth, Bruestle and Neubeck.
Atterberry made 14 stops. DL had 28.

The Coca Cola Pee Wee A added two more wins to its growing list this weekend, beating Moorhead 6-2 Saturday at Moorhead and Thief River Falls 4-3 Sunday at Nielson-Reise.
This Friday the team makes up a previous postponement with Grand Rapids at Neilson.
Bemidji led at every stop at Moorhead scoring three in the final period to pull away.
Josh Lusby had two goals while Jack Johnson, Alex Pollock Shaye Yaklich and Tyler McNamara scored once.
Tarron Baker had two feeds and Pollock, Lusby, Johnson, Cody Gumeringer, Rocky Copiskey and Jaret Lalli one.
Grant Tharaldson had 33 stops. Moorhead had just 13.
The two teams tied 1-1 in their first meeting.
Bemidji needed an overtime goal to edge Thief River which had won their first meeting 3-0.
Copiskey had two goals and Gumeringer and Mitch Webb one.
Assists went to McNamara, Pollock, Johnson, Gumeringer and Matt Hancbon.
Kyle Krause rejected 21 shots. Thief River had only 16 saves.

Squirts B White
The Squirts B-White went scoreless at the Grand Rapids Invitational last weekend, falling to SMA 4-0, the Mpls. Storm-White 4-0 and the Mpls. Storm-Black 8-0.
It dropped Bemidji to 5-15.
This weekend it travels to Bagley Saturday and faces Northern Lakes at the Breezy Point Arena Sunday.
Bemidji trailed SMA 1-0 after two periods before falling
It lost Trevor Loewe to a fractured elbow in the second period to hamper its chances.
Saturday, Bemidji gave up three first period goals, then played the Minneapolis sextet to a near standoff thereafter.
Sunday, Bemidji was never in contention.
