A Bemidji woman died after a one-vehicle rollover in a horse pasture near Bemidji.

While on routine patrol at about 4:19 a.m. today, a deputy with the Beltrami County Sheriff's Office came upon the rollover near the intersection of Grange Road Northwest and Irvine Avenue Northwest.

Hairston, the lone occupant, had been ejected and pinned under a 2004 Dodge Durango. Rescue crews from Bemidji Ambulance Service, Bemidji Fire Department and Beltrami Industrial assisted deputies with extricating the victim.

Hodapp said Hairston was driving east on Grange Road Northwest and didn't stop for the stop sign at the T-intersection with Irvine Avenue Northwest. He said she drove straight though the T-intersection into a horse pasture where the vehicle rolled.

Hodapp said Hairston worked with Northwest Indian OIC and served as a board member for Northwoods Coalition for Battered Women. She also was on the organizing committee for the 2008 Bemidji Freedom Walk.

The accident remains under investigation by the sheriff's office.
