Bemidji wins Fertile-Beltrami Invitational
FERTILE – Individual championships by Brian Maas at 113 pounds, Logan Crosby at 126, Kade Johnson at 170 and heavyweight Alex Johnson lifted Bemidji to the championship of Saturday’s Fertile-Beltrami Invitational.
The Lumberjacks tallied 188 points and edged Thief River Falls which finished with 182. Blackduck-Cass Lake-Bena was fourth.
Brian Maas won all three of his matches, registering two pins and a decision.
Crosby also went 3-0 with a pin, a technical fall and a decision.
Kade Johnson opened with a pin and followed that with a tech fall and another pin. Alex Johnson opened with a bye and then won via a pin and a 4-0 decision.
Robert Treuer contributed a second-place finish at 138 as did Drew Peterson at 160. Contributing thirds were Alex O’Neal at 145, Josh Dreyer at 182 and Wyatt Yoemans at 220.
Bemidji did not wrestle four of its regulars as Dylon Sauceda, Craig Maas, Gannon Strain and Brody Wilander sat out in order to preserve future matches.
