Bemidji well represented on all-conference teams

BEMIDJI – The Bemidji boys soccer team placed six players on the Lakes to Prairie All-Conference first team squad while the girls had five players make the first team.

Headlining Bemidji’s all conference picks were senior midfielder Isak Sommer and senior goalkeeper Connor McNallan. Sommer, who scored 13 goals and had seven assists in conference action, was named to the team for the fourth time while McNallan, who had a .77 goals against average, made the all conference team for the second time.

Also earning all conference first team laurels were senior midfielder Austin Kovach, senior striker Riley Brooks and junior fullbacks Gunnar Nelson and Matt Bitter.

Sophomore striker Alex Schussman earned a spot on the honorable mention team.

In the girls division Bemidji’s first-team picks included senior midfielders Erin Booth and Emily Boyer, senior striker Josie Spry, junior fullback Paige Moen and freshman striker Rachel Bitter.

Booth, who scored 18 goals and added 14 assists, was named for the third time while Spry (15 goals and two assists) is a two-time all conference pick.

Sophomore fullback Sierra Anderson also represented BHS on the honorable mention team.

Earlier this fall Booth and Sommer were selected to the All-State team. Booth was one of 22 girls and Sommer one of 22 boys who made first-team All-State.

Lumberjacks boys coach Rick Toward also was named the Coach of the Year in Section 8A.
