The Bemidji Votes NO! Community Kickoff begins at 6 p.m. in the Crying Wolf Room in the Hobson Memorial Union on the Bemidji State University campus, 1500 Birchmont Drive NE.

The amendment, which will be on the ballet in November, states "Shall the Minnesota Constitution be amended to provide that only a union of one man and one woman shall be valid or recognized as a marriage in Minnesota?"

The kickoff is being organized by a group of local residents and leaders working with Minnesota United for All Families to defeat the proposed amendment.

Local teachers, parents and faith leaders will speak to residents about the efforts happening in communities to help defeat it.

Previously, the meeting was set for a different location on the BSU campus.
