Bemidji VFW sweeps Fergus Falls

The Bemidji VFW collected a pair of road victories Wednesday, sweeping Fergus Falls 5-1 and 7-3.

Cody Jenkins went the distance on the mound in the opener, fanning seven and walking three.

The teams were tied 1-1 heading into the seventh when the VFW scored four runs.

Nick Conner began the winning rally with a single and Sam Dwyer and Mitch Buckanaga followed with bunt singles to load the bases.

Mark Fenner plated a pair with a single and Nick Hovila drove in two more with his single.

Bemidji didn't need a final-inning rally to win the rematch as the VFW scored single runs in the first, second and fourth innings and struck for two in the fifth and two in the seventh.

Trent Baker went the route and he limited Fergus Falls to five hits and two walks while striking out four.

Dwyers' single scored the first-inning run and Hovila drove in a run in the second.

Mark Fenner scored in the third on the back end of a rundown and Cody Jenkins' double, a walk to Dwyer and Connor McNallan's single combined for two runs in the fifth.

In the seventh Ryan Hirt singled, Dwyer reached on a fielder's choice, Devin Barrett was hit by a pitch and McNallan and Buckanaga delivered RBI singles.
