Bemidji U-12 falls to Grand Forks
GRAND FORKS - Bemidji's 12-year-old Northern Heat baseball team dropped its first game of the Midwest Regional Saturday as it fell 13-0 to Grand Forks in a winner's bracket contest.
The loss moved Bemidji into the loser's bracket final and a 1 p.m. game today against either Regina or Bismarck.
Those teams met in an elimination game Saturday night and the winner will take on Bemidji.
If Bemidji can win that game it will earn a rematch with Grand Forks at 3 p.m. today.
A second game, if necessary, would follow.
"They played well and we didn't," said Bemidji coach Bruce Dahlin of Saturday's game. "This was a really good wake-up call. Our kids rattled of 20+ wins in a row and we might have needed this to continue and go deeper in the tournament."
Grand Forks scored twice in the first inning, added four in the second and scored seven in the third.
Jonah Miller had Bemidji's only hit.
