Bemidji student Annika Sletta wins Spelltacular

After 15 rounds, the winner of the 2013 Bemidji Area Schools Spelltacular was Aanika Sletta, an eighth-grade student from Phi Pod. The winning word was “cultivation.” Pictured are the top finishers in the event, from left, Magda Blumhardt, eighth grade, Theta Pod, who finished in second place; Sara Jane Morrison, seventh grade, Gamma Pod, fifth place; Serena Johnson, fifth-grader at J.W. Smith Elementary, third place; Riley Flint, seventh grade, Kappa Pod, fourth place; and Aanika, the 2013 champion. All five top finishers will move on to the Regional Competition to Feb. 13 in Thief River Falls.
