Bemidji State women's basketball loses to U-Mary

The Bemidji State women's basketball fell 72-50 to University of Mary last night in Bismarck, North Dakota. It was the second big loss in as many nights.

The Beavers (4-6 1-5 NSIC) jumped ahead to a 16-11 lead after freshman guard Ellie Wessling made a lay-up with 12:18 left in the first half.

The Marauders fought back over the remaining 12 minutes of the half and took a 35-27 lead into the locker room.

University of Mary did not lose any of its newfound momentum in the second half and scored 13 consecutive points to build a 21 point lead with 14:32 remaining.

Bemidji State was unable to mount any serious comeback, but they did score the final seven points of the game.

The Beavers struggled again on the offensive end. They shot just 30 percent from the field and turned the ball over 18 times.

Senior guard Anna Hebrink led the Beavers with 13 points with three 3-pointers. She added six rebounds and three steals.

Junior forward Taylor Davis added nine points for BSU. Wessling pulled down a team-high seven rebounds.

Bemidji State will return to action after the holidays. They play at Minnesota-Duluth on January 2 at 2 p.m.
