Bemidji State women's basketball loses to MSU, Moorhead
The Bemidji State women's basketball team's woes continued as it fell 84-74 on the road on Saturday to Minnesota State University, Moorhead.
The loss was the tenth straight for the Beavers (5-17, 2-16 NSIC).
The Dragons were in complete control of the game. The Beavers never owned a lead.
Moorhead jumped out of the gates with a 10-2 lead after four minutes of play.
The Dragons lead grew to as much as 20 with 3:40 left in the first half.
Thanks to a pair of jumpers from freshman guard Morgan Lee and senior center Colleen McKay, Bemidji battled back by finishing the half on a 9-1 run. They still trailed 46-34 at halftime.
Lee, along with freshman forward Ellie Wessling led the Beavers with 14 points. Wessling also had four assists.
Lee hit a three-pointer to cut the lead to just six points with 8:03 remaining. The Dragons pushed its lead back to double digits and the Beavers were unable to make a serious threat of a comeback.
McKay and freshman guard Melissa Borstner finished with 12 points each.
Senior guard Anna Hebrink scored nine points on three shots from behind the arc. Hebrink added four assists.
Bemidji State returns home on Friday when it hosts Southwest Minnesota State at BSU Gymnasium at 6 p.m.
