Bemidji State softball: Mauraders take two from BSU
The Bemidji State University softball team lost a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference doubleheader to the University of Mary by scores of 3-1 and 4-1 Wednesday afternoon at BSU Baseball Field.
In the first game, the Beavers scored their lone run off of nine hits while committing two errors. Kaitlin Hill scored the run in the first inning when she was hit home by Stephanie Rossman.
Mary's Desi Smith hit a two-run home run in the eighth inning to win it for the Marauders.
BSU starter Courtney Anderson pitched extra innings for the second consecutive game, gave up six hits and struck out four.
In the nightcap, the Beavers scored one run on five hits while committing three errors. Bemidji State jumped on the board first yet again, this time capitalizing on two errors and a wild pitch committed by the Marauders in the second inning.
Chelsea Cardinal scored on the wild pitch.
Freshman lefty Kelsey Saralampi faced 27 batters, gave up seven hits and struck out four.
Next up for the BSU Beavers is a five-day road trip that will cover four states. The first stop on the itinerary will be at Winona on Saturday where the Beavers will take on NSIC foe Winona State in a doubleheader slated to begin at noon.
