The Beavers will challenge Concordia Saturday in St. Paul before ending their four-game road trip Sunday against nationally-ranked MSU in Mankato.

Off to a 3-1-0 overall record and a 1-0-0 mark in NSIC play, Bemidji State earned a tie for 8th in the first edition of the NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division II Central Region Poll. Minnesota State earned the third spot in the same poll. The Mavericks were also No. 22 in the most recent national poll.

Concordia (0-3-0, 0-1-0 NSIC) seek its first win of the season after falling to Minnesota State 4-1 last Thursday. The Beavers fell to the Golden Bears last season by a score of 2-1.

BSU is 1-6-1 against Minnesota State all-time with its lone win coming in 2010. Last season, the Beavers battled the Mavericks to a 0-0 tie during the regular season before falling to them 1-0 in the first round of NSIC/US Bank Tournament play.

MSU was tabbed as the favorite to win the league in the NSIC Preseason Soccer Coaches’ Poll and is coming into the weekend with a 3-1-1 overall record and a 1-0-0 mark in NSIC play after its recent 4-1 win over Concordia-St. Paul.

Two weeks into 2012, BSU is lead in scoring by Tiffany VanHaaften and Mary O’Brien, who each have two goals. VanHaaften leads all players with six points (2G, 2A). Sonja Barr, who has started all four games in goal, has made 10 saves and has one shutout this season. She has also posted a 0.40 GAA and a .909 save percentage.
