Bemidji State to play 20 NSIC volleyball matches
BEMIDJI - The 2012 Bemidji State University volleyball schedule will include six matches against opponents which finished the 2011 season ranked in the top 25 nationally. Among those teams is four-time defending NCAA Division II national champion Concordia-St. Paul.
BSU's 2012 slate features 20 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference matches featuring contests against new NSIC members Minot State and Sioux Falls. The schedule will conclude with the NSIC tournament, which will include the conference's top eight teams in the final regular-season standings.
BSU opens Aug. 31 and Sept. 1 as it heads to Pittsburg, Kan. for the Pittsburg State Gorilla Classic. The tournament will pit the Beavers against a pair of regional foes in the newly re-aligned Central Region as they face Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association members Emporia State University and Pittsburg State. The Beavers will also face NAIA foe Northwest Oklahoma State University and Rockhurst University.
Bemidji State will open its 2012 NSIC schedule Sept. 14 at Minot State. BSU will then travel down Highway 83 to take on Mary Sept. 15 in Bismarck, N.D.
BSU will make its NSIC home debut Sept. 18 with a mid-week match against Crookston.
