The Bemidji State men's hockey team will learn its fate in the NCAA Tournament Sunday morning. The NCAA Tournament Selection show will be aired on ESPN 2, starting at 10:30 a.m.
A selection show gathering will be held at the 71 Bar in Turtle River with doors opening at 10 a.m. An all-you-can-eat breakfast will be served for $5.95.
Members of the Bemidji State men's hockey team, along with the coaching staff, will be on hand at the gathering.
The selection show will be aired live, so the public will learn the Beaver's fate at the same time the team does.
The Beavers gained an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament following a 3-2 overtime victory over Robert Morris University in the College Hockey America Tournament championship game at the John Glas Fieldhouse Saturday.
It was the Beavers third CHA tournament championship.
On Sunday, the Beavers will be placed in one of four NCAA Tournament regionals -- East in Bridgeport. Conn. on March 27-28; Northeast in Manchester, N.H. on March 28-29; Midwest in Grand Rapids Mich. on March 28-29 or West in Minneapolis (Mariucci Arena) March 27-28.
Bemidji State is the only team to have officially qualified for the NCAA Tournament at this point.
Five additional auto bids will be decided this weekend as conference tournament champions are decided.
Once the six auto bids have been settled 10 at-large bids will then be awarded.
The 16 teams will be placed in the four regionals, four teams in each.
Winners from each of the four regionals will advance to the Frozen Four, to be played in Washington, D.C. April 9-10.
