Wayne State's Jonathon Thomas hit a 3-pointer to force overtime and Marcus Messersmith drained a 3-point prayer as time expired in overtime to give the Wildcats the 88-87 victory in the final game of the regular season for both teams.

Saturday's loss for the Beavers came on the heels of a 126-124 four overtime loss to Minnesota-Duluth on Wednesday night at BSU Gymnasium.

Bemidiji State played in four overtime games this season and finished with a 2-2 record.

It was also the fourth time this season Bemidji State has lost on a buzzer-beater or final possession of the game.

The Beavers concluded the season 8-19 overall and 6-14 in the NSIC, improving on last year's total of six overall wins and three conference wins.

WSC finished 11-16 overall (7-13 NSIC).

Bemidji State had solid performances from Brady Fairbanks and Seth Haake on Saturday night.

Fairbanks scored 16 points in the first half and went on to finish with a game-high 28 points.

Haake finished with 24 points.

Leading Wayne State was Thomas with 21 points.

Bemidji State led 36-32 at halftime.

Jake Lindstrom missed a 3-point attempt as time expired in regulation, a shot that would have given BSU the win.

Bryce Tesdahl's layup with eight seconds left in overtime gave BSU the brief 87-85 lead.
