"I'm doing good," Kinne told St. Paul's Pioneer Press newspaper Sunday.

The Bemidji State University Athletic Media Relations office confirmed the report on Monday.

The family continues to see positive signs of improvement as he continues to recuperate, according to the release.

Kinne, a junior, has played in 74 consecutive games in his first two seasons at Bemidji State. He scored eight goals in Bemidji State's Frozen Four season in 2009 and was named to the All-College Hockey America rookie team.

He scored 10 goals and had 24 points last season as a sophomore and ranked fifth in team scoring.

"Our thoughts are with Ben and his family and the goal for all of us is that he will fully recuperate," Bemidji State head coach Tom Serratore said in the release.
