Bemidji State batters Minot 12-5

TUCSON, Ariz. – The Bemidji State baseball team spotted Minot a 3-0 lead after two innings but rallied in the final five innings to defeat Minot 12-5.

BSU began its comeback with two runs in the fifth inning courtesy of Trevor Purvis’ RBI single and Logan Kalis’ run-scoring double.

The Beavers broke the game open with five in the sixth. Jack Hegarty started the big inning with an RBI single and two Beavers scored when Chad Hanson’s ground ball was booted.

Purvis and Jaryd Marks followed with RBI singles.

Minot drew within 7-5 with two in the seventh but BHS put the game away with a Zach Braun’s 3-run home run in the eighth.

Braun capped the scoring with an RBI double in the ninth.

Bemidji State pounded 22 hits. Hanson, Purvis, Kalis, Braun and Hegarty each had three hits and Braun finished with four RBI.

Ryan VanSomeren went five innings to earn the pitching victory.
