KEARNEY, Neb. -- The Bemidji State University volleyball squad did not lose a set in the second and final day at the Best Western/Runza Fall Classic, hosted by the University of Nebraska-Kearney.

The Beavers finished the tournament with a 3-1 record after defeating Rockhurst (Mo.) 3-0 and Fort Hays State 3-0.

The game scores against Rockhurst were 25-19, 26-24 and 25-19.

The game scores against Fort Hays State were 25-23, 25-17 and 25-22.

BSU is now on a nine-set winning streak and have posted three victories in a row. The three match winning streak is the longest in head coach Laurie Bitter's career.

Bemidji State's record stands at 3-1 this season.

The Beavers battled the Hawks in the first match of the day. In the second set, BSU was down by as much as five and never had a lead until 21-20, but found a way to get the last to points for the 26-24 win.

Sophomore Courtney Bitter led the Beavers in the win against Rockhurst with 34 assists and 14 digs in her second consecutive double-double.

Junior Brie Groskreutz led the team in kills (11) and digs (20) for her first double-double of the season.

Also recording double-digit dig numbers were freshman Bethany Thompson with 11 and junior-transfer Samantha Hertaus with 10.

Junior Nicole Olson led the Beavers in blocks with four block assists and one block solo.

BSU completed the tournament with another three-set sweep in a victory against Fort Hays State. The Beavers dug deep in the match, coming back from a 18-13 deficit in the first set and then rode the momentum to victory in the final two sets. Bitter recorded 27 set assists in the match and Groskreutz had 11 digs.

The Beavers travel to the Florida Southern Classic next Friday and Saturday. The Classic is hosted by Florida Southern and BSU has four matches scheduled for the two-day event.
