The Bemidji State University women's cross country team finished fourth at the 5k Greenwood Run at Greenwood Golf Course.
University of Mary finished first with 30 points, Jamestown College was second with 46 points, Minnesota State University Moorhead was third with 57 points and BSU rounded out the run with 106 points.
Anna VanWechel of Minnesota State Moorhead finished first with 18:31.28.
Kristi Buerkle was BSU's top finisher in 20th with a time of 21:20.53.
High School races were also held at the race sponsored by Bemidji State.
Bemidji's Bailey Drewes won the girls 4k race with a time of 16:02.42. She won the race by nearly five seconds over Courtney Wing of Brainerd.
Jimmy Dean of Brainerd won the boys 5k with a time of 16:44.58. John Buckanaga was Bemidji's top finisher with a time of 17:59.55.
ST. PAUL -- The Bemidji State University volleyball team fell to two ranked Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference opponents in nonconference action Friday at the Radisson-Roseville/Concordia University Tournament.
The Beavers pushed No. 12 Southwest Minnesota State in the first match, but lost 3-2. The game scores were 26-24, 25-27, 16-25, 23-25 and 10-15.
Bemidji State was swept by Concordia-St. Paul in the second match 3-2. The game scores were (17-25 and 9-25 and 23-25.
Bemidji State's record drops to 3-7 overall.
"This group is young, but we are good," Bemidji State head coach Laurie Bitter said. "We should have beat Southwest, no excuses. The team needs to be mentally tougher. We really had a tough preseason schedule, now we have to be ready for conference play."
MOORHEAD -- The Bemidji State University men's golf team owns a seven-shot lead after round one of the 36-hole Concordia Invitational.
Paced by the trio of Jim Foss, Chris Curb and Casey Hill, the Beavers finished the day with an 18-hole team total of 283 (-5).
Bemidji State leads second-place University of Manitoba (290 +2) by seven strokes with 18 holes to play in the season-opening, nine-team event.
Foss fired a five-under-par 68 to lead the Beavers and he shares the lead with the Manitoba's Riley Unger for top individual honors. Curb and Hill also finished day one under par.
The Beavers return to action Saturday at The Meadows Golf Course.
DETROIT LAKES -- Bemidji State University junior Marissa Mackedanz carded an 42-43--85 (+13) to finish tied for 14th place at the Cobber Open Friday at Wildflower Golf Club.
As a team, Bemidji State finished the event in seventh place with an 18-hole team total of 368 (+80).
North Dakota State University won the team title with 317 (+29) in the nine-team event. NDSU was led by former Birchmont champ Amy Anderson, who claimed medalist honors with a one-under-par 71.
