Bemidji St. men's hockey rises in national polls
The Bemidji State men's hockey team found its way back on the national polls after last weekend's sweep of Air Force in the opening weekend of the season.
The Beavers are ranked No. 15 in this week's United States College Hockey Online USCHO)/CBS College Sports Division I poll and are 16th in the InsideCollegeHockey.com Power Rankings.
The Beavers are nine points from reaching the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine top 15 poll.
Prior to the series against Air Force, Bemidji State was No. 20 in the INCH Poll and was not ranked in the USCHO poll.
Air Force was ranked No. 19 in the USCHO poll.
Bemidji State's USCHO poll ranking is the highest since holding the No. 15 spot in October 2005.
The USAToday/USA Hockey Magazine poll placed the Beavers in its "others receiving votes" category with a total of 27 points -- the team's highest point total since it gained 194 points to rank 12th in the March 30, 2009 version of the poll.
If the current poll was extended beyond its standard top 15, Bemidji State would find itself in 16th.
Bemidji State (2-0-0) is idle this weekend and returns for a two-game weekend series at Northern Michigan on Oct. 23-24.
