Bemidji St. falls in overtime

BEMIDJI – Despite Morgan Lee’s team-high 19 points, the Bemidji State women were unable to hold on to a nine-point second half lead and lost to Sioux Falls 82-70 in overtime Saturday in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play.

The Beavers (9-11, 5-11 NSIC) led 38-32 at halftime and led by as many as nine points with 11:15 to go.

But USF (11-9, 8-8 NSIC) went on a 15-5 run in a four minute span to take the lead.

Lee’s 3-pointer with 6:06 to go tied it at 61-61 and the teams traded baskets before going to overtime tied at 70.

The Cougars went on to score 12 points in the overtime period and hold the Beavers scoreless.

In addition to Lee’s 19 points, LaNae Rash and Kate Warmack each added 14 points for BSU.

USF was led by a pair of 20-plus scorers. Laura Johnson scored 24 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for a double double while Alyssa Rushton added 23 points.
