ALEXANDRIA – The Bemidji High School volleyball team finished second at Saturday’s Cardinals’ Invitational, going 3-0 in pool play but falling 25-23, 25-22 to North St. Paul in the title match.

North St. Paul and BHS each won its pool and locked horns in the final.

“It was an up and down match,” said Jacks coach Teresa Colligan. “We played relatively well most of the day and against North St. Paul we had some nice runs and had some leads.

“But North St. Paul is a good team and came back on us.”

Jess Yost ripped 12 kills in the championship match and Alexa Greendahl had 14 assists. Claire Laakso contributed four blocks and Allie Heifort three. Yost also finished with 11 digs and Jasmin Yerbich had eight.

In pool play Bemidji rallied past Grand Rapids 16-25, 25-22, 15-6, thumped Alexandria 25-15, 25-22 and downed Rocori 25-21, 25-20.
