Bemidji places fifth in 36-hole tournament

PARK RAPIDS — Bemidji finished fifth in the two-day boys golf tournament hosted by Detroit Lakes.

During Friday’s opening 18 holes the Lumberjacks shot 316 at Longbow near Walker and Saturday they carded a 327 at Headwaters Golf Course near Park Rapids to finish at 643.

Detroit Lakes won the meet at 299-295-594. Carter Smith of Detroit Lakes was the medalist with rounds of 73-70-143.

The Jacks were led by Elliot Leinen who shot 76 at Longbow and 79 Saturday at Headwaters for a 36-hole total of 155. Leinen finished in a time for seventh place.

Matt Gregg had rounds of 77-85-162 while Sam Bruestle shot 82-82-164, Isaac Bleser 84-84-168, Sam Starkey 81-91-172 and Ben Christopher 96-82-178.

Next week finds the Lumberjacks playing in the Brainerd Invitational at The Pines on Wednesday and at Greystone for the Melrose Invitational on Thursday.
