Bemidji Pioneer Business Briefs for October 7

BEMIDJI – Kristin Addison, Sharon Fruetel and Leonore Potter have been elected to the Minnesota Public Radio Regional Development Council.
Addison, Fruetel and Potter were elected during the council’s annual meeting, and will represent the Bemidji area and serve as liaisons between the surrounding community and MPR stations.

Program director joins Oak Hills-
BEMIDJI – Matt Friedman has been selected as the new Intercultural Studies Program director at Oak Hills Christian College.
He has previously taught on intercultural studies and related topics throughout South Asia, Southeast Asia, Europe, the Middle East and North America.
Friedman, who has spent more than 26 years in full-time ministry, is currently finishing his doctorate degree in Intercultural Studies at Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, Ky. His research includes work on Muslim communities and spirituality, early Jewish and Christian mysticism and the history of global Christianity.

NAIFA – MN announces officers
BEMIDJI – The Headwaters Chapter of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors – Minnesota (NAIFA – MN) has elected its officers for the coming year.
Officers include President Mike Moen of Northwestern Mutual in Bemidji, Vice President and IFAPAC Chair Bob Sandbo of American Family Insurance in Bemidji, Professional Development Co-Chair Wayne Tieman of Thrivent Financial in Bemidji and National Committeeperson Paul Rosendahl of Focus Financial in Bemidji.
The elected Secretary/Treasurer is LeRoy Sundbom of Thrivent Financial in Bagley and Clearbrook, Government Relations officer is John Carlson of American Family Insurance in Bemidji, Health Insurance Chair is Tim Lucas of Insure Forward in Bemidji and Professional Development Co-Chair and Trustee is David Moffett of Northwestern Mutual in Bemidji.
Trustees Mike Huerbin of Focus Financial in Bemidji, Greg Carlson of Ameriprise Financial in Bemidji and Trustee and Regional Director Jess Evenson of State Farm Insurance were also elected.
