Knife River Materials is award finalist
BEMIDJI — Knife River Materials is among eight companies under consideration for the 2012 Sheldon G. Hayes Award.
The award is presented annually to the highest-rated paving project in the county.
The Knife River Materials project is a mill and overlay job on Minnesota Highway 9 from U.S. Highway 10 North to the Norman-Clay county line.
To identify the top projects, engineers from the National Centers for Asphalt Technology scored all of the 2011 Quality in Construction Award winners. The eight highest-scoring highway projects over 50,000 tons advanced to the next round of consideration for the Hayes Award.
Final determination will be made After an onsite evaluation of each project. The winner will be announced at the NAPA 2013 annual meeting, scheduled for Feb. 10-13 in Scottsdale, Ariz.
Bemidji KOA earns President’s Award
BEMIDJI – The Bemidji KOA Campground has been awarded the 2013 KOA President’s Award by Kampgrounds of America.
The award was presented Nov. 17 at KOA’s annual International Convention in Orlando, Fla. KOA is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2012.
The KOA President’s Award is presented annually to campgrounds that receive high scores in customer service from their campers and top scores in KOA’s annual Quality Review.
KOA surveys hundreds of thousands of campers each year regarding their KOA camping experiences.
“Our KOA owners rely on the feedback they receive from our camping guests to make almost instant changes and improvements to their operations,” said KOA President Pat Hittmeier. “KOA owners do a wonderful job a listening to our campers, and I’m proud to be able to recognize the best among the best with the KOA President’s Award.”

Midco gets Best Tech Team honor
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Midcontinent Communications has received the 2012 Best Tech Team Award from Communications Technology magazine.
The honor was awarded to Midcontinent Communications for its technical team leading the industry with innovative network services, including MidcoNet Xstream Wideband internet, digital and high-definition video, and local and long-distance digital phone service.
