Hoody gets Doctor’s Doctor award
BEMIDJI – Dr. Howard Hoody has received the Sanford Health 2012 Doctor’s Doctor Award.
The award was presented in early November during the Physician Award Dinner at the Ramada Plaza Suites and Conference Center Hotel in Fargo, N.D.
The Doctor’s Doctor Award is presented to a practicing physician who exemplifies the values of the profession and is dedicated to the art and science of healing ― a doctor who other doctors trust and turn to for knowledge, judgment, wisdom, honesty and support.
Hoody began practicing family medicine in Bemidji during the late 1970s. In nominating Hoody, a peer described him as “an icon in the history of health care in Bemidji. Yet, if you were to ask him, the most important role he has is that of a devoted husband and loving father, committed to his family and his community.”
Hoody has held many leadership positions at Sanford Bemidji and has been instrumental in the growth and development of what is now Sanford Health of Northern Minnesota.
Kinnen gets landscape architecture license
BEMIDJI – Keith Kinnen of Karvakko Engineering in Bemidji recently received his registered landscape architect license with the state.
Kinnen joined the Karvakko Engineering team in July, bringing with him a new service in landscape planning and design for residential, commercial and government projects.
In Minnesota, licensed landscape architects are required to meet rigorous and demanding qualifications. A landscape architect is skilled, experienced and knowledgeable with required codes and regulations and is able to offer services throughout the project from initial consultation through the final completion of construction.
Karvakko Engineering is based in Bemidji, with a branch office in Michigan. The firm provides civil engineering services throughout the upper Midwest, specializing in aviation, municipal, energy, transportation engineering, land surveying and landscape architecture.
Chiropractic office holding book drive
BEMIDJI – Drs. Robert S. Johnson and Jason W. Dixon at Chiropractic Professionals are accepting donations of gently used books and DVDs during the month of December.
The donations collected will benefit the Friends Red Door Bookstore located within the Bemidji Public Library.
The Friends Red Door Bookstore sells the donated books and DVDs to raise money to help purchase new materials for the library.
New and existing patients will receive a free therapy for their donation of either three paperback books, two hardcover books or two DVDs.
