Bemidji man dies in crash, 2 others injured

A 28-year-old Bemidji man died in a single-vehicle crash Tuesday morning in Benton County.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol out of St Cloud:

William J. Thompson was driving a 2000 Pontiac Montana north on Highway 10, south of County Road 33, when the vehicle left the roadway and rolled several times.

Thompson was not wearing a seat belt. He was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene.

The accident was reported just after 9 a.m.

The two passengers in the vehicle - 24-year-old Ida E. Beaulieu of Bemidji and 13-year-old Trudy L. Magney of Cass Lake - suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were treated at a St. Cloud hospital. Neither was wearing a seat belt.

The roadway was reported to be icy at the time of the crash. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash.

The vehicle was totaled.
