Bemidji man critically injured Monday morning
A 22-year-old Bemidji man was critically injured in a two-vehicle accident that occurred about 7 a.m. Monday morning at the intersection of state Highway 197 and the U.S. Highway 2 ramp in Beltrami County.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol out of Thief River Falls:
Thomas A Haldeman was driving a 1995 Chevrolet pickup truck south on 197 while Larry L. Weiss, 69, of Park Rapids, was driving a 2001 International tandem tractor-trailer north on U.S. Highway 71 making a left turn onto westbound U.S. Highway 2.
The front of the semi ran into the driver's side door of the pickup truck.
Weiss, who was wearing a seat belt, was not injured in the crash.
Haldeman, who was not wearing a seat belt, was taken to North Country Regional Hospital with critical injuries. NCRH said Tuesday he was not at the hospital.
The roads were icy at the time of the crash.
The semi sustained minor damage; the pickup was totaled.
Assisting at the scene were the Bemidji Police Department and Beltrami County Sheriff's Office.
