Bemidji man accused of driving drunk, hitting squad car in Duluth
A Duluth police investigator seven days from retirement was hospitalized Monday after an accused drunken driver ran a red light and struck the officer driving an unmarked squad car.
Veteran property crimes investigator Don Boso suffered numerous injuries and is hospitalized in St. Luke's hospital in stable condition.
According to Duluth police, Duane Porter, 25, of Bemidji failed to stop for a red light while driving west on Central Entrance about 6:20 a.m. Both vehicles were occupied only by the drivers.
Porter was treated and released from the hospital. He was transported to the St. Louis County Jail on preliminary charges of criminal vehicular operation, third-degree DWI, driving after suspension, red light violation, no seat belt and driving over the center line.
