Bemidji HS wrestling team wins twice at Fosston-Bagley
After spotting Blackduck-Cass Lake-Bena-Indus a 9-0 lead the Bemidji wrestlers won eight of the next nine matches to take control and down the Bears 49-27 in the opening match of Tuesday's triangular hosted by Fosston-Bagley.
Bemidji capped a successful evening by defeating the host team 54-21 in the triangular's finale. Tuesday's wins upped Bemidji's record to 16-9.
The Lumberjacks prevailed in eight of the 11 contested matches against the Bears. BCLBI (9-0) posted three victories and also was awarded a pair of forfeit wins.
The Bears opened the match with Andrew Nissen's pin at 103 and Kyle Michalek's decision triumph at 112.
After Bemidji's Gary Molash was awarded a forfeit win at 119, Tanner George answered with a pin victory for BCLBI to give the Beavers a 15-6 lead.
But Bemidji responded with seven consecutive wins. Jake Crosby started the run with a pin at 130 and teammates Craig Maas (135), Isaiah Moore (140) and Colton Doty (145) followed suit.
Kade Johnson added a decision win at 152 and Dustin Greenman collected a major decision at 160.
Tyler Molitor capped the flurry with a pin win at 171.
BCLBI's Crag Brouder and Al Goodwin were awarded forfeit wins at 189 and 215 but Bemidji's Alex Johnson ended the match with a pin victory at heavyweight.
The Lumberjacks opened their match against F-B with eight wins but the home team claimed four of the final six.
Tyler O'Beirne posted a pin at 103 to give the Jacks a lead they would not relinquish and Michael Fogarty added a pin win at 112.
Also winning with pins were Logan Crosby at 125, Jake Crosby at 135, Craig Maas at 140 and Kade Johnson at 145.
Robert Treuer earned a decision at 119 as did Tyler Molitor at 189.
Ryle Masterson was awarded a forfeit win at 130 as was heavyweight Alex Johnson.
