The Bemidji wrestling team heads to the Fargodome today and Thursday for the Rumble on the Red tournament.
The event features varsity and junior varsity competition and BHS coach Rance Bahr has decided to enter the bulk of his squad in the JV event.
Jake Crosby at 125 and heavyweight Alex Johnson will compete in the varsity tournament but the remainder of the Jacks will wrestle in the junior varsity division.
"The JV brackets are typically 60 to 70 wrestlers and they will give our kids quality matches," Bahr said. "This is a great tournament for our younger wrestlers to meet competition at their level.
"It is also a great opportunity for our experienced varsity wrestlers to wrestle in the JV division to hit their stride," the coach continued.
In the JV division Bemidji's lineup will include Tyler O'Beirne (95), Brian Maas (112), Logan Crosby or Robert Treuer (119), Gary Molash (125), Craig Maas or Ryle Masterson (130), Dylan Hardy (135), Isaiah Moore (140), Colton Doty or Cody Thoring (145), Dustin Greenman, Kodi Craft or Kade Johnson (152), Tyler Molitor (160), Brenden Fredricksen (189), Nick Maggert (215) and Keefer Bender (heavyweight).
"This tournament gives ample opportunity for the kids to work on technique and build confidence," Bahr said. "Many of the teams wrestle varsity athletes in the JV portion to gain experience and confidence for the younger varsity wrestlers."
