Bemidji HS volleyball turns it on at Roseau

The Bemidji High volleyball team made the long trip to Roseau a shorter ride home Thursday, stopping the Rams in straight sets.

It lifted Teresa Colligan's spikers to 11-2. They face one of their stiffest challenges of the year Tuesday at Hibbing, a team they beat 25-20. 25-19 at the Marshall Challenge earlier this y ear.

Roseau is having a fine season and proved it, holding Bemidji to a 25-19, 25-20, 26-24 victory.

Bemidji trailed in the third set 23-18 and 24-20 before scoring the final six points of the night with Courtney Homer serving on six Kayla Hirt kills.

Hirt ended with 18 kills on the night while Jess Yost had nine and Kelsey Heisler seven.

Brooke Homer had 36 assists while Courtney Homer had 12 digs and Erika Weimann and Abby Hendricks nine.

Hirt had six blocks, Heisler four and Hendricks 3.

Megan Wannebo had the lone ace of the night.

"We were a little inconsistent tonight," said Colligan, "but we turned it on when we had to. That's one of the things I like best about this team."

The JV reached 6-2 with a 25-20, 25 18 win.

The B Team outlasted the Rams 21-25, 25-18, 15-13 to reach 7-1.

The freshmen fell in three sets 25-20, 18-25, 16-14 and are now 4-4-2.

All four teams play Tuesday at Hibbing.
