Bemidji HS volleyball splits with state powers

The Bemidji High volleyball team ran up against two of the state's top 10 Friday night at the Marshall Challenge at Southwest State and emerged with a split.

Bemidji opened with a 25-12, 22-25, 15-5 win over No. 4 ranked Stillwater.

Megan Wannebo led with four aces while Brooke Homer had three,. Brooke also had 25 sets while Abby Hendricks led with 12 digs, Erika Weimann had 11 and Wannebo 10.

Bemidji then met the No. 6 state tem, Wayzata and fell 17-25, 25-18, 15-4.

Wannebo had two aces while Hirt and Kelsey Heisler had seven kills and Hendricks four.

Brooke Homer had 17 assists with Courtney Homer and Hendricks having 7 digs and Wannebo six. Yost had four blocks and Brooke Homer and Kayla Hirt three.

Bemidji faces three games today at the 32-team meet. It finished 2-3 in last year's event.
