The Bemidji High swim team took second place Saturday at the five team Detroit Lakes Invitational surrendering its title to the host team
DL won with 358 points to 302 for Bemidji with Perham at 285, Thief River 267 and Park Rapids 159.
The meet was scored to 12 places with the Lakers depth proving the difference.
Bemidji will return to DL for the True Team section meet next Saturday after hosting its own Invitational Friday night.
"Our lack of depth was exposed today.," said Coach Woody Leindecker. "Everyone swam very well with times very fast for this early in the season."
Bemidji started slowly taking 8-11 in the medley relay.
Quillan Oak who led off that event for the winning DL team, came back to win the 200 free over Paul Voss of Bemidji. Nick Nyberg was third

Dylan Hoven broke the meet record in the 50, winning in 22.19 with Nick Gubbels seventh.
