BHS scored three runs in the first frame without the benefit of a hit and padded a 3-1 lead with the two fifth-inning tallies.

Grand Rapids closed to within 5-2 in the upper sixth but the Lumberjacks hung on for their sixth win in eight starts.

Bemidji's offense struggled but took full advantage of three consecutive walks to start the home half of the first inning.

After loading the bases with the free passes Bemidji's Janelle Williams plated Summer Monsrud with a groundout. Emily Larson followed with a grounder to second which was booted and two more runs came across.

Erika Weimann started the home half of the fifth with a single and Taylor McLean came in to pinch run. Jess Yost followed with a fly ball to center which was misplayed and McLean scored on the play.

Janelle Williams promptly drilled a single to move Yost into scoring position and Larson brought her home with a groundout.

BHS returns to action Monday at St. Cloud Tech.

Weimann earned the pitching victory with 5.1 innings of work. McLean finished and earned the save.

The pair combined to yield only one earned run while fanning five and walking two.
