Bemidji HS girls track: Truedson, Drewes post a 1-2 finish
The Bemidji girls track team scored 69 points Tuesday at Grand Rapids and trailed only the host team which tallied 115. Hibbing was third with 54 and Duluth East fourth with 34.
The Lumberjacks had a number of fine individual performances including those by Bailey Drewes and Kim Truedson who finished 1-2 in the 1600. Drewes was timed in 5:27.48 and Truedson was clocked in 5:42.79.
Rachel Becker won the triple jump in 32.10-5 and Amber Peterson was third in 30-11.5. Becker practiced the triple jump for the first time only a week ago.
Allie Heifort captured the shot in 34-11 and Selina Gilbertson was third in 31-0.5. Callie Johnson placed fourth in 30-2.5.
Gilbertson won the discus with a throw of 100-9. Katie Verchota was third with an 89-0 effort and Kristina Lengerhuis was fifth at 86-0.
Tiffany Mason took top honors in the pole vault with a 9-4 effort and Amber Peterson was fourth at 7-0.
In the 200 Blake Bardwell was third in 28.63 and Kenzie Timms was sixth in 29.45.
Bardwell also was third in the 400 (1:05.11) and Kaitlyn Blotske was fifth in 1:09.09.
In the 100 hurdles Maren Erpelding placed fourth (18.5) and Steph Frey was sixth (18.87). Kate Schultz was sixth in the 300 hurdles (53.53) while Amber Peterson was fifth in the 800 (2:34.93).
Josie Spry placed fifth in the long jump at 14-3 while Mason and Emily Olson tied for fifth in the high jump at 4-4.
Bemidji was second in the 4x200 (159.82) behind Rachel Becker, LeAnne Oakes, Gretta Steever and Amanda Hunt, and third in the 4x400 (4:30.91), 4x800 (10:50.76) and 4x400 (4:30.91). BHS finished fourth in the 4x100 (55.89).
